Kim Kardashian, Kanye West voted least desirable celebrity neighbors

WELCOME TO NERDTWIST

People would be happy to live next door to Jimmy Fallon and none too pleased to be neighbors with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, according to a new survey.

Real estate website Zillow.comhas released the results of its seventh annual Celebrity Neighbor Survey, which named Fallon the most desirable neighbor for 2014.

The comedian and late-night TV host, who became a new dadthis year, earned 11 percent of the surveyed adults' votes.

Country music couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert tied with Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence for second place, each receiving 10 percent of the votes. "Modern Family" star Sofia Vergara tied with ABC News' Robin Roberts in third place with six percent.

Meanwhile, Kardashian and West took the top spot on Zillow's list of the worst celebrity neighbors of the year. Twenty-five percent of those surveyed said they would not want to share a fence with the high-profile couple, who got engaged and welcomed daughter North this past year.

The cast of TLC's reality series "Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo" came in second on the worst neighbors list with 18 percent of the votes, followed by Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus, who tied with 16 percent each. Lady Gaga and Alex Rodriguez also made the list, while 14 percent of those surveyed said they wouldn't want to live next to any of the choices given.

Fallon "carries a positive, funny and relatable vibe, which people would love to have in a neighbor," said Zillow Chief Marketing Officer Amy Bohutinsky. Kardashian and West, however, "have a reputation for living an over-the-top lifestyle, with drama and the paparazzi never too far behind."

"No one wants to live next door to a family who has cameras following them everywhere and seems to seek out as much attention as possible," she added. "However, with more than one-third of surveyed Americans preferring a non-celebrity neighbor, what remains clear is that many people don't want to live next to any celebrity, regardless of why they are famous."

Tell us: Which celebrity would you like (or not like) to live next door to?

“I have to thank my friend Albert Fantrau for my success. We played together for a youth club. When people from sporting arrived, they told us that whoever scored more goals would be be accepted to their Academy "

“We won that game 3-0, I scored the first goal, then Albert scored a header, and the third was a goal that impressed everyone. Albert went on one on one with the goal keeper. I was running next to him, he went round the keeper, all he needed to do was just to get the ball into the empty net. But, he passed it to me and I scored. I was accepted to the Academy. After the match, I approached him and asked him “why” and he answered; “You’re better than me”.

Several years after, journalist went to Albert ' s house, and asked whether the story was true. He confirmed. He also said that his career as a football player finished after that match and he is now unemployed. “But where did you get such a gorgeous house, a car? You seemed to be a rich person. You also maintain your family…… where is all from? Albert proudly replied; its from Cristiano.

List of online shopping website in Nigeria

WELCOME TO NERDTWIST

In the past, about 10 years ago, Nigerians were probably just used to window shopping on the internet by visiting foreign websites where there were a lot of good stuff and products which people wanted but could not have due to the restrictions placed on shipping and credit cards. Yeah, in that past, not many Nigerians were used to buying things on the internet and getting a home delivery afterwards. Then, websites like Amazon and eBAY used to rule the local internet audience. Although few people were still able to shop online at US and UK stores from Nigeria, when you compare the cost of shopping for and shipping single items to Nigeria to their retail prices locally, it somehow defeats the whole purpose of saving costs on online shopping. Nowadays, there are lots of online shopping websites in Nigeria that can offer real low prices for items you may already be seeing listed on foreign websites. This is due to the fact that they can buy at wholesale prices from dealers abroad and ship at reduced shipping costs using sea freight rather than courier services which can be expensive.

The situation is changing now with the growth of online stores in Nigeria and there are a growing number of them. These are online shopping websites that allow people to pay in Naira, get a home delivery or do a pickup themselves.

Nowadays, Customers in Nigeria who want to shop online no longer need to make payments with Paypal, have a US shipping address or make use of a US credit card before their orders are executed. No, they could simply order online and even pay on delivery afterwards.

Online shopping in Nigeria is changing the way Nigerians buy and sell and it is not just products but services as well as being sold on the internet.

11.HelloFood: With an office address at Lekki Lagos and a website at hellofood.com.ng, Hellofood is also a favourite online shopping destination. It's not just clothes and computers that are sold online in Nigeria but you can buy food as well. Whether it's for a local dish like ofe Akwu, Fufu or other dish like cakes, spaghetti and Pizza, Hellofood is one of those few local websites where you can order for food and receive it same day. Hellofood has a wide chain of restaurants that they can link you with and all it basically takes is having a free account with them and then pay on delivery. You'll be able to choose from the local restaurants in your area, order food and have it delivered to your while it's still hot. Hellofood doesn't really prepare the food themselves but I think they do the delivery and packaging and collect the fee. What I lie about them is the way they list various restaurants and their menu so you don't have to stick with just one.

www.kamdora.com

Nigeria smartphone subscriptions to hit over 2.4bn by 2019

WELCOME TO NERDTWIST

Telecommunications experts have predicted that Nigeria's smartphone usage is expected to hit over 2.4 billion by 2019, considering that "Nigerians are always ready to play with technology at all cost".

Those who made the prediction noted that Nigeria had huge population that is making the increase a delight to behold.

It was against this backdrop that Ericsson Mobility Report stated that 90 per cent of the world's population would be covered by WCDMA/HSPA in 2019 and 65 per cent will be covered by the Long Term Evolution(LTE)/4G. And that mobile subscriptions are expected to reach the threshold of 9.3 billion by 2019, while smartphones will take a large chunk of it to the tune of 5.6 billion(about 60 per cent), which may keep rising due to smartphone user experience.

Smartphone subscriptions, the Ericsson Mobility Report disclosed, would triple and smartphone traffic would increase 10 times between 2013 and 2019, reaching 10 Exabytes. Also video is growing at 55 per cent annually and this will represent more than 50 per cent of the mobile data traffic, while social networking and web services will account for 10 per cent each in 2019.

The reports, Ericsson maintained, included an appendix, providing data and insights on telecommunications trends in sub saharan Africa over the next five years.Mobile subscriptions are projected to grow to around 930 million by the end of 2019, with a 446 per cent growth in low cost smartphones, PC's and tablets, and increased viewing of videos.

Speaking on this latest report, Ericsson's senior vice president and Head of strategy, Mr. Douglas Gilstrap noted that "the rapid paace of smartphone uptake has been phenomenal and is set to continue. It took more than five years to reach the first billion smartphone subscriptions but it will take less than two to hit the two billion mark.Between now and 2009,smartphone subscriptions will triple,"the report noted."I pointed out that trend will be driven by uptake in china and other emerging markets as low-priced smartphone models become available."

Currently, smartphones represent 25-30 percent of all mobile phone subscriptions globally, yet they account for the majority (55 per cent) of mobile phones sold in Q3.Over the forecast period, smartphone uptake in Sub-saharan Africa will be relatively rapid, driven partly by low-cost smartphones entering the market and the increasing demand for content services to be delivered over mobile devices.

You’ll Not Believe What Pastor Kumuyi HasTo Say About Celebrating Christmas

WELCOME TO NERDTWIST

The General Overseer of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor W.F Kumuyi, has again warned members of the church against celebrating Christmas, saying the annual celebration of Christmas is idolatrous and unscriptural. Kumuyi warned that partaking in the celebration made Christians to go back from the commandment of Jesus Christ.

The cleric said this on Saturday at the annual national December convention of the church, which held at the church’s camp ground in Ogun State.
He said,“We don’t celebrate Christmas. It actually came from idolatrous background. That is why you don’t hear us sing what they call Christmas carol, Never! We always say it is the December retreat. We are only gathering together because it is the holiday period and love the lord more, and rededicate ourselves more.
“When you find anybody coming in, or any leader, trying to introduce the idolatry of mystery Babylon, that they call Christmas and you want to bring all the Christmas carol saying that is the day that Jesus was born, and you don’t find that in the Acts of the Apostles or in the early church, then you don’t find that in the church either. If you don’t know that before, now you know.”
He warned that any of the church’s leaders that tried to introduce the“idolatry of Christmas”into any section of the church would be sanctioned, while also encouraging other believers in Christ to jettison the celebration as part of their sacrifice to perfection.
Kumuyi said the duty of the church was to make people more like Jesus Christ and not join in worldly celebrations.
“We are not trying to make the church turn like the world. We want it to be like Jesus Christ, and more like the Apostles. If you don’t have that mind with us, then you have permission to go to other places,”he added.
But the Director of Social Communications, Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, Monsignor Gabriel Osu, in his reaction to Kumuyi’s proclamation, said,“I don’t know what he means by saying the practice of celebratingChristmas is wrong.
“Is he saying that Christ wasn’t born? That he didn’t come to die for us? Does he not celebrate his own birthday? Do Kumuyi’s pastors not celebrate him? It is not everything I react to; some people just seek attention. If Kumuyi is a Christian, then he must believe in Christ.
“The celebration of Christmas didn’t just start today; it is too public an event for anyone to say that they don’t know what it is about. “If Kumuyi is condemning the commercialisation of Christmas, I can understand that. Christ came to redeem us from our lost state; this was actualised through his coming, his birth; that is why we celebrate Christmas. It is the fulfilment of God’s promise.”
“I saw him on the television a few days ago. He was in Akwa Ibom State and was the chief preacher during their Christmas celebration event. Kumuyi is just saying what he feels; he is not making any doctrinal statement.”
The spokesperson for the Christian Association of Nigeria, Oshodi chapter, Lagos State, Pastor Barnabas Otoibhi, said that Christmas was worth celebrating.
Otoibhi told one our correspondents in a telephone interview that the origin of Christmas was not as important as its essence.
He said,“The origin of Christmas, as we know it, could be traced to Roman Emperor, Constantine. Christmas was a day for celebrating the Sun God. However, because Constantine was a Christian, the day was changed to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ.
“The tradition has continued to date and since the aim of Christmas is to celebrate Jesus since there is nothing bad in honouring Jesus. Also, the worship of the Sun God was done in Rome and not everywhere in the world, so it is not part of our history.
“We mark Christmas with the singing of songs as a day, which has now been consecrated.”

11-Year-Old Nigerian Girl Storms the List of 100 Most Influential Africans

One of the most notable among 23 Nigerians who made the list is an 11-year- old Nigerian girl, Zuriel Oduwole.Zuriel, whose Hebrew name means ‘For God is my Rock’, was featured in the magazine for her fight for the education of women.

Miss Oduwole was born and raised in the United States and, of mixed parentage, a Nigerian father and an American-Jewish mother. She lives in California in the United States.

This summer she made history, when she became the youngest person to be interviewed by the influential Forbes Magazine. The award winning documentary film maker, conference speaker and writer is featured in the August 2013 edition of Forbes Africa.

Miss Oduwole has visited China, where she learnt to speak and write Mandarin or Chinese. She speaks a bit of Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo. The girl also travelled to Switzerland, France, United Kingdom, Grenada, Turkey, Antigua, Australia, Fiji, Mexico, Ghana, Egypt, Mauritius, South Africa, Tanzania and, of course, Nigeria, her fatherland.

At the age 11, Oduwole has interviewed leading African personalities, including eight African presidents, Africa’s richest person Aliko Dangote and tennis super stars – Venus and Serena Williams. Touted by some as the next Oprah Winfrey, Oduwole is reportedly committed to rebrand Africa by showing the positive things in about the continent, and making the case for education the Girl Child in Africa and Emerging Markets. Other notable names in the list are music producer Don Jazzy , business mogul Aliko Dangote, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde , Idris Elba, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie , Alek Wek , Chiwetei Ejiofor, David Adjaye , DJ Sbu , former South African president Thabo Mbeki , Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe , El Anatsui, Lupita Nyong’o , Omar Sy , P Square , Trevor Noah , Fatuomata Diawaraa and NoViolet Bulawayo . Also, the oldest woman on the list is the former foreign minister of Somaliland, Edna Adan (76), famous for fighting for women’s rights and health.

The criteria of selecting the influential people is explained below: “In defining what passes for ‘influence’, New African has been careful to note that while there is indeed for a wide array of qualities and proclivities that earmark people as ‘influential’, a person’s impact on the wide public, social and political community is one of the greatest indicators of influence. Bearing in mind that popularity doesn’t necessarily mean influential, New African Magazine has compiled its list of 100 most influential Africans, 23 of them being Nigerians. The list offers a glimpse into the diverse breed of young and established leaders intent on reinventing the face of Africa… They include entrepreneurs, spiritual leaders, political game- changers, and sporting record breakers to name but a few.”

ASUU LATEST: How Members Are Mobilised Against Resuming Lectures

WELCOME TO NERDTWIST

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the weekend embarked on mass mobilisation of members not to comply with the ultimatum by the Federal Government to resume lectures by December 4, 2013.

The members of the union were also directed not to sign any register that may be opened by their Vice Chancellors. ASUU leaders directed all branches chairmen to find means of mobilising their members not to fall for the threats of the Federal Government, describing the threat as “empty”, pending the next National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Union, which will be held in Minna. The Chairmen were also advised not to hold public congresses in order to avoid any face off with police and security forces the government deployed to all institutions for the implementation of the December 4 deadline of re-opening. ASUU have started using the short message service (SMS) and other social media platforms to reach out and to mobilise members not to succumb to the Federal Government’s threat. The Nation published some of these SMS: “Dear members, FG decision to threaten us with sack confirms our suspicion that FG may not be honest and can not be trusted. Don’t sucumb (sic) to this empty threat. The strike continues. We shall triumph again. Please, DO NOT SIGN ANY REGISTER. ALUTA CONTINUA- CHAIRPERSON”. “Dear Congress member, I’m appealing we should stay calm and remain resolute. There is nothing wrong in asking govt to do what it says it will do immediately. ASUU is not making any new demands as the Minister is propagating Govt is only repeating a ‘one act play’ scripted by the IBB dictatorship in early 90s. It didn’t work then, and, it won’t work now ALL BRANCHES are intact. We cannot be intimidated!!! UNITED WE BARGAIN DIVIDED WE BEG!!! ALUTA CONTINUA”.
A professor at the Federal University of Technology Minna, who spoke with the newsmen on conditions of anonymity, expressed shock over the ultimatum: “One is shocked by the deadline. If they sack all of us, government will go to Kasua Gwari to pack lecturers or pick Professors on the streets. It is a pity, our leaders are reckless. “We are not moved by the ultimatum. We are waiting to see how they (govt) intend to wriggle itself out of the self inflicted problem. Do they know how the system runs? The era of intimidation is gone,” the university don stated. At the same time, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and Enugu State University of Science and Technology are set for reopening.

Don Jazzy, Omotola And P-square Named Among Africa's 100 Most Influential People 2013! [SEE FULL LIST]

WELCOME TO NERDTWIST

What is influence and how do you measure it?
It will always be hard to agree on a common
understanding and meaning of influence.
Understandably, this always generates wide
debate.
How do we determine these people’s influence?
And why does it matter that we assemble this
list, you may ask. One yardstick we used was to
emphasise that influence is not about
popularity and popularity is not always
influential.
The influencer’s impact on public, social and
political discourse, however, is what largely
helps us determine their influence. Over the
next few pages, you will find a breadth and
wealth of Africans of all nationalities and ages,
both women and men, whose actions and
reach, we have determined, significantly
impacted and realigned the continent’s
landscape in their fields of endeavour. They
contributed in redefining the African narrative
in 2013 and we feel they will play a big role in
2014 - hopefully, for Africa’s good.

Idris Elba, Actor - Sierra Leone/Ghana
A much sought-after film and television actor,
Elba was born in London to a Sierra Leonean
father and Ghanaian mother. He has taken
both Hollywood and TV acting by storm, in hits
such as The Wire and Luther . But film critics
believe his lead character in the recently
released the film adaption of Nelson Mandela’s
autobiography Long Walk To Freedom, – which
has already been awarded the British Academy
of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Los Angeles
Britannia Humanitarian Award – could be the-
game changing role of his career.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie , Author - Nigeria
Adichie is unstoppable. 2013 has been yet
another good year for this daughter of Nigerian
soil with two major accomplishments to file
under her name: the release, to
unprecedented acclaim, of her much
anticipated novel Americanah and the release
of the movie adaptation of her novel Half of a
Yellow Sun , starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and
Thandie Newton. Yes, it has been a good year,
but Adichie does not look like a lady who will
be slowing down in 2014. As someone who is
not afraaid to confront the difficult subjects of
race, gender and politics, and is a proud
African, who continues to campaign against the
one-story narrative about Africa, we can't wait
to see what she will do next.

Alek Wek , Supermodel - South Sudan
The influential fashion magazine I:D has
dubbed her “Model of the Decade”. The US’s
People magazine listed her as one of the “50
Most Beautiful People”. But the Sudanese
model’s influence extends far beyond the
fashion world and societal concepts of beauty.
As a former refugee, Alek knows what it is like
to be forced to flee one’s home. Hence, she is
a passionate advocate for refugee rights. She is
a world- acclaimed role model who transcends
her industry.

Chiwetel Ejiofor, Actor - Nigeria/UK
Chiwetel Ejiofor has the lead role in two of
2013’s biggest films – 12 Years A Slave, directed
by Steve McQueen, and the film adaptation of
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s award-winning
novel, Half of A Yellow Sun, directed by Biyi
Bandele. His portrayal of former South African
president Thabo Mbeki in the new Channel 4
drama Endgame was also another stellar
performance. Prior to the theatre release of
both films, Ejiofor won critical acclaim for his
portrayal of Patrice Lumumba in A Season in
The Congo, a theatre production about the first
democratically elected leader of the DRCongo at
The Young Vic theatre in London. Born to
Nigerian parents in the UK, the award-winning
actor is garnering an Oscar buzz for his
mesmerising performance in 12 Years A Slave.
The roles he has taken on this year prove once
again what an African A-list, Oscar-deserving
actor he is. Will 2014 be his year?

David Adjaye , Architect - Ghana/UK
David Adjaye is a Ghanaian-British whose
architectural firm won the contract to design
and build the US Smithsonian National Museum
of African-American History and Culture in
Washington DC, which is due to be unveiled in
two years. Adjaye admits this is one of the
most important commissions of his career. At
the young age of 45, he has accomplished what
most in his career can only dream of. His firm
has also been shortlisted in a competition to
build the National Holocaust Monument in
Ottawa. Adjaye is one of a handful of African
architects with global renown, transcending his
profession to become a global commentator on
architecture, design and politics.

DJ Sbu , Producer - South Africa
Sbusiso Leope, popularly known as DJ Sbu, is
not only a media personality and businessman
but through his music and his engagement with
the South African youth he has become a cult
figure and is considered an epitome of South
African popular culture. Despite his harsh
upbringing in the deprived township of
Tembisa, he has overcome his obstacles and is
today helping shape positive youth culture. He
hosts the Sound Revival show on Metro radio
and appears on the most popular TV game
show in the country – Friends Like These. He
co-owns the record label TS Records with TK
Nciza, and the current South African premier
music sensation Zahara is signed to their label.
Sbu has truly inspired many, particularly the
youth this past year. He gives three talks a
week to disadvantaged schools around South
Africa and helps offer bursaries and
mentorship.

Don Jazzy , Music Producer - Nigeria
One cannot talk about contemporary Nigerian
music without a mention of Don Jazzy,
described as Africa’s number one beat maker.
Founder and CEO of Mavin Records, Michael
Collins Ajereh, 31, is better known as Don Jazzy
and is an award-winning record producer and
singer-songwriter. Before he set up Mavin
Records, he was head to Mo’ Hit Records, which
at its height was home to some of Nigeria’s
most successful artists, like D’Banj. He has
produced hit songs for some of the biggest
names in Nigeria’s music industry including;
D’Banj, Tiwa Savage, Dr SID and Wande Coal.

Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe , Fashion - South
Africa
A businesswoman and humanitarian, Dr
Precious Moloi-Motsepe has redefined the
African fashion landscape with the yearly
showcases produced by African Fashion
International (AFI), the company behind
Mercedes-Benz fashion weeks in South Africa. A
medical doctor by profession and a fashion
connoisseur by passion, she transitioned into
the fashion world when she realised that the
fashion and clothing industry can play an
important role in entrepreneurship. She has
since gone on to place the African fashion
industry on a global platform through AFI. She
also heads the Motsepe Family Foundation,
which focuses on projects that positively impact
on people’s health, education and the nurturing
of young talent.

El Anatsui, Artist - Ghana
He is revered by critics and art lovers on both
sides of the Atlantic, and an inspiration to a
young generation of African artists. El Anatsui is
one of the most exciting contemporary visual
artists on the international art scene today. His
work transcends boundaries and he has
received widespread international acclaim for
his sculptural experiments. His iconic “bottle-
top installations” have provoked international
attention with institutions queuing up to
acquire these monumental work for their art
space. Over time, his work, which is mostly
compromised of large external installations, has
been installed and exhibited in some of the
world’s most prestigious art institutions.

Lupita Nyong'o , Actress - Kenya
Lupita Nyong’o’s breakout role as Patsey – a
brutally abused plantation worker – in 12 Years
A Slave, has earned her an Oscar buzz for her
first feature film. She recently won the New
Hollywood Award at the annual Hollywod Film
Awards. Prior to 12 Years A Slave, she starred
in the ground-breaking MTV Base series Shuga ,
about “the lives of sexually active young
Kenyans [which] highlights the risks associated
with unprotected sex” and the impact of HIV/
Aids. Her role as Ayira catapulted Nyong’o to
the attention of audiences in Kenya, and across
Africa.

Omar Sy , Actor - Senegal
Omar Sy, half Senegalese and half Mauritian,
has been described as France's first black
superstar, making waves by starring in the
highly acclaimed and highest grossing French
film in decades, The Intouchables . He received
the Caesar Award, the French equivalent of an
Oscar, for the role. This has catapulted Sy to
global recognition and he will feature in the
upcoming X-Men - Days of Future Past movie.
2014 looks good for this young, gifted and
African talent.

Omotola Jalade Ekeinde , Actress - Nigeria
To her global fans, Nollywood actress Omotola
Jalade Ekeinde embodies true African beauty
beyond measure. But there is more to the
Nigerian sex bomb popular known as Omosexy.
The gorgeous actress and mother of four’s
meteoric rise in 2013 – a year which saw her
become the first African celebrity to reach 1
million likes on Facebook, and named as one of
the most influential people in the world by
Time magazine for their annual Time 100 list.
Her debut reality show, Omotola: The Real Me,
made headlines as the most popular TV series
across Africa. But that was not all! It fixated
her millions of fans, revealing fascinating
insights into one of Africa’s most recognised
faces. She is also increasingly becoming a social
activist in her own right, although a vocal critic
of the current African political dispensation.
Despite her popularity, she has no political
ambitions. Yet.

P Square , Musicians Nigeria
Peter and Paul Okoyo have defined and set a
benchmark for a new generation of Nigerian
and African artists to follow with their energetic
and infectious sound. According to the MTV
Africa Website, their music is “Afrocentric in
that it combines western and African rhythms
in creating a marvellous blend of R&B, Hip Hop
and Dancehall songs.” Hit after hit, the twin
brothers have become apt at giving audiences
songs that cut across age, gender and
geographical boundaries. They are arguably
Nigeria’s biggest musical export in the last few
years, and have collaborated with some of the
world’s biggest hip-hop artists, like Akon.

Trevor Noah , Comedian - South Africa
Trevor Noah grew up in Soweto, and has used
his life experiences to build a career as a
comedian of note, possibly being Africa’s most
internationally popular comedian. Noah started
working on stage and television in South Africa,
but has since spread his wings, selling out tours
in Europe and the US.

Fatoumata Diawaraa , Musician - Mali
The multi-talented Malian singer-songwriter is
truly a non-conformist; she defied tradition and
escaped Mali as a teenager when under
pressure from her family to get married. Today,
Diawara is using her music to expose the
cultural prejudices faced by women across
Africa and the world. Her self-titled debut
album, Fatou was released to international
acclaim. She has toured Europe and the US and
earlier this year organised renowned musicians
across Mali to do a Peace song for the nation
during the days it was under threat from
militants.

NoViolet Bulawayo , Author - Zimbabwe
NoViolet Bulawayo won the Caine Prize for
African writing in 2012, and this year has been
shortlisted for the coveted Man Booker Prize for
her novel We Need New Names. This makes her
the first black African woman and the first
Zimbabwean to be accorded this honour. With
accolades from far and wide for the beautifully
written We Need New Names , not only will she
continue to play an important role in African
writing, there is no doubt that a new star of
African female writing is truly born. The one-to-
watch.

Men’s Manual: 10 Lessons About Female climax

WELCOME TO NERDTWIST

According to the data collected in several
major researches, only 25% of women
climax during s*x with their partner. That
is while over 90% of men say they reach
climax. Thus, gentlemen, it is up to you to
ensure that your lady experiences this
highest level of s*xual satisfaction. These
tips might prove very handy in mastering
the art of pleasuring a woman.

10. Take her off the clock: Just as you’re
concerned about lasting longer, many women
are so self-conscious about taking too long
that they end up faking climax or deciding to
go without. The solution? Stop obsessing over
orgasms—yours and hers. A recent brain-
imaging study by Swedish researchers shows
that relaxation is the single most important
factor in bringing a woman to climax. So tell
her she has all night. The better you convey
not just tolerance for a lengthy buildup, but
also appreciation of her s*xual pleasure—
climax or not—the easier it will be for her to
unwind and explode. Oh, and studies show
that it takes 15 to 40 minutes for the average
woman to reach climax. Going somewhere?

9. Turn her on with your talent: The best
s*x starts long before the clothes come off.
Talent—more than rugged good looks or a
chiseled midsection—is a powerful
aphrodisiac, according to researches (less
surprisingly, poor hygiene and a messy home
are among women’s biggest turnoffs.)
Demonstrate your sense of humor, for
instance.

8. Speak up when she’s unclad: Women who
worry about the way they look down there
are less likely to climax easily during oral s*x,
according to researches. And a recent study
suggests that women who feel embarrassed
or ashamed about their bodies have less
s*xual experience and are less sexually
assertive.
Clearly, you have everything to gain with
flattery. If you love the way she looks unclad
—and you do, right?—share the news.

7. Always be tender on top: During foreplay,
gently brush the tops, bottoms, and sides of
her br**sts; these areas are actually more
sensitive than an unaroused areola and
bosom. Gradually move in toward her
bosoms, paying attention to how she
responds. As things heat up, the bosoms will
become flushed with blood, and the sensory
receptors will become primed for direct
stimulation. You’ll kickstart the bloodflow and
lubrication down below, starting her slow
buildup.

6. Learn her key strokes: One thing many
women love during manual stimulation: a
slow buildup. Here’s how to do it: Lie next to
her, lightly bracing the heel of one hand just
above her clitoris. Now run your ring and
middle fingers along the length of her outer
lips. Graze the skin at first, adding pressure
as the tension builds. Cup the area around
her clitoris with your palm to add indirect
stimulation—most women are too sensitive to
receive direct contact early on. As she
becomes aroused, brace your hand on her
pubic mound, the fleshy area that covers her
pubic bone, and tease the clitoris with the
middles and tips of your fingers as you move
your entire hand.

5. Change her angle: Explore various types
of penetration to figure out what turns her
on most. Your first stop: her G-spot, located
about 1 to 2 inches up the front wall of her
v**ina. This spongy region swells during
arousal. Try massaging the area slowly with
your fingers. A lot of women find it mind
blowing. Not her thing? Just move on.

4. Use moves that multitask: To maximize
her pleasure, increase the amount of contact
you’ll have with her most sensitive parts.
Here’s one move that will drive her wild: Ask
her to lie on her back, with her legs
stretched out. Now climb on top. Curl your
arms around her shoulders, supporting
yourself with your elbows and moving your
chest up by her chin. The goal is to bring the
base of your man-hood in contact with her
clitoris. Thrust slowly, focusing on up-and-
down movement instead of in-and-out
penetration. Another great trick: Move your
pubic mound in a circle or up and down
against her clitoris. You’ll get a break from
high-intensity stimulation, and she’ll receive
focused attention where it often matters
most.

3. Learn to sense her climax: Ease into oral
s*x—don’t just attack. First kiss her inner
thighs and her inner and outer lips, then
work your way inside using firm, broad
strokes with your tongue. Watch her hips for
a clue to the rhythm she likes. Listen to her
gasps and moans as you experiment with
different techniques. And watch for signs
she’s close to climaxing, such as a subtle
deepening in the color of her labia caused by
increased bloodflow. Or rest a hand on her
stomach and feel for the muscular
contractions that immediately precede her
climax.
2. Follow her lead: Once you reach your
point of no return, you’ll climax even if
you’re interrupted by a tuba-playing, thong-
clad Charly Boy. But your lady could hit the
“off” switch if you stop or change moves
midway to climax. They it when you try new
things, and it’s important to vary your
technique, but once you’ve found a winner,
stick with it until she crosses the finish line.

1. Let her finish first: Stalking the elusive
tandem climax is an admirable goal, but
many women respond better to a “ladies-
first” strategy. If you rub the clitoris for a long
time — during thrusting, for example — it
can become too sore or desensitized to
respond to manual or oral stimulation later.
So satisfy her before intercourse. Bonus: A
woman’s climax threshold drops after her
first one, so it’s often easier to bring her to
climax through penetration after she’s
already had one. How does that sound for an
encore?

Meet The Teenage Girl Who Has Transformed Herself Into A Living Cartoon Character

WELCOME TO NERDTWIST

With her enormous, glassy eyes, purple
hair and coquettish pose, this girl could
have stepped from the scene of a Japanese
anime film.

Anime fan Anastasiya Shpagina has
transformed herself into a living cartoon
character, complete with miniature waist,
vividly-coloured hair, and a cupid’s bow pout.
Originally from the Ukraine, the 19-year-old
takes style inspiration from the cartoons and
computer animations that have a huge
following in Japan, and has even adopted a
Japanese name – Fukkacumi.
Anime characters often feature huge eyes
and heads that are disproportionately large
in comparison to their body.
Shpagina, who is just 5ft2ins tall, is already
reported to have slimmed down to just over
six stone in her attempts to resemble a living
anime character, and is said to spend 30
minutes painstakingly applying her dramatic
make-up to each one of her eyes.
It is thought Shpagina may go even further in
her efforts to achieve her desired look, with
some reports claiming she intends to undergo
surgery on her eyes to make her resemble
her anime idols even more closely.
The teenager, who has over 10,000 fans on
Facebook, also posts videos on YouTube
demonstrating how she applies her make-up.
One clip, in which Shpagina reveals to fans
how she achieves her ‘flower fairy’ look, has
been watched more than 150,000 times
Shpagina is not the first young girl to take
style inspiration from the world of fantasy.
American Dakota Rose – or Kota Koti – has
been dubbed the ‘real-life Barbie’ thanks to
her doe-eyed stare and dainty proportions.
The teenager has amassed a global audience
by posting fashion and beauty tutorials on
YouTube.

She was recently photographed without niqab

BEFORE YOU CHEAT: 12 Things You Need To Remember

WELCOME TO NERDTWIST

The world is full of sexy women, and all of
us have felt the urge to stray, even just
for one night. Here’s why staying faithful
pays off, for your relationship and for your
s*x life.

Thing 1: When presented with the ideal
cheating scenario, that is, if a flying saucer
lands in the cornfield where you happen to
be standing and a female alien of sinus-
clearing hotness slithers down the ramp and
declares that she wants to come in peace a
minimum of four times in the next hour, and
you take her up on it because you know no
one will ever find out, no one must ever find
out.

Thing 2: Someone will always find out.

Thing 3: If you get caught, the law is on your
wife’s side. And you won’t lose just half of
your stuff. The other half, the golf clubs, the
surround sound, the Armani will be destroyed
in a spectacular driveway bonfire as every
angry woman you know toasts marshmallows
shaped like your testicles.

Thing 4: And if you’re not married? Your
longtime girl is bound by no law.

Thing 5: Or, to paraphrase Neil Simon, do to
yourself what you would otherwise do unto
others.

Thing 6: If a woman who knows you’re
spoken for comes on to you, it’s flattering.
It’s tempting. But remember that she’s doing
it to feed her own ego, not yours. She wants
to see how much power she holds over you.
And if you take her bait, she then knows she
must be superior in every way to your
sweetie. Deep down, she has nothing but
contempt for both your male weakness and
your mate’s existence. That should really piss
you off.

Thing 7: According to the Shari’ah, the laws
of ancient Islam, adulterers must be stoned
to death. Before you say, “Dude, cool,” we
mean with rocks. In these parts, that’s what
will happen to your good name. Friends you
made while you were a couple will disappear.
Friends you had as a single guy are long
gone. That leaves you with the hard drinkers.

Thing 8: You’re about to be with the kind of
woman who wants to be with the kind of
man who would cheat on a woman.

Thing 9: Channel all temptation toward the
girl you left at home. Example: When out for
a night with the boys, go to Hooters, not a
strip club or roadhouse. Hooters girls are the
unsung heroines of relationship therapy,
gorgeous, chatty, and so untouchable that
you always go home hungry. Your girl has no
idea her s*x life will improve tenfold when
you get there.

Thing 10: At the office party, pretend the
coworker who’s flirting with you has
gonorrhea.

Thing 11: If your ex calls, enjoy a pleasant 5-
minute conversation. Then tell her your wife’s
on the other line.

Thing 12: Treat your temptation as a cage
match. Defeating that treacherous organ
between your legs is the ultimate triumph of
man over nature. It’s you versus your man-
hood. He’s up for the challenge. Are you?

9 Tips To Get A Flat belly

WELCOME TO NERDTWIST

Why bother sucking it in? Especially when
there are better, and more effective ways to
shrink that tummy down.
Here are just some of our surprising expert
tips to help you shed inches and pounds,
banish the bloat, and feel even more
gorgeous. Hello, skinny jeans and summer
shorts!

Enjoy An Afternoon Snack
“You must eat a snack that contains protein
between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Go for a protein
bar, a piece of low-fat cheese, or some
almonds with an organic apple.
No matter what, do not miss that snack. It’s
important because it boosts metabolism and
balances blood sugar. The lower you keep
your blood sugar, the lower you keep your
insulin, and insulin makes you store fat
around your middle. Eating every three to
four hours will keep your blood sugar even,
but many people tend to go five or six hours
between lunch and dinner without eating.”

Ball Exchange
“My No. 1 tip: Do the ball exchange three
times a week. Lay flat on your back with your
arms above your head and legs straight out.
Start with a stability ball above your head in
your hands. Bring the ball up above your
chest as you bring your legs up to meet the
ball and place it between your ankles. Bring
the ball back down to the floor with your legs
and straighten your arms back out over your
head.
Repeat the ball exchange 10 to 12 times,
remembering to keep your lower back
pressed into the floor as you do this move.”

Take Time To Chew
“Chewing is the No. 1 tip I give to prevent
bloating. Chew food until it is like applesauce
in your mouth. Digestion begins in the mouth,
and without proper chewing, food is not well-
digested. Better-digested food means less gas
and bloating.”

Focus More On Belly Balance
“I recommend the DCBA approach: Diet first,
Cardio second, Building muscle third, and Abs
exercises last. Follow it and you can safely
lose one to two pounds a week. Spend 60
minutes a day preparing healthier meals.
Spend 20 minutes a day three to five times
weekly doing cardio. Spend 15 minutes a day
three times a week strength training. Finally,
spend 5 minutes a day three times a week
doing abs exercises.”
Switch To Sea Salt
“The culprit making your tummy bloat? It
could be the salt in your diet. Use natural sea
salt or kosher salt, which is lower in sodium
teaspoon for teaspoon than traditional table
salts. And stay away from soy sauce: Even
low-sodium soy sauce is still high in sodium
and will cause practically instant bloating.
Instead, flavor your food with a little fresh
tomato salsa or a hint of cayenne pepper,
which has an added benefit of boosting
metabolism.”

Box It Out
“Add boxing to your cardio routine. When you
throw punches with weights or at a fast pace,
you’re working your core in a way that helps
to flatten your midsection. You must engage
your core to throw punches, and twisting
your torso works all the ab muscles.
Boxing also gives you a cardio workout that
burns extra calories. Add 16 minutes of
boxing three times a week to your regular
cardio routine (30 minutes at high intensity
four to five times a week), and you can lose
up to 2 inches from your waist in four weeks.
Simply throw punches while holding 1- or 2-
pound weights for 8 minutes, alternating
arms, then repeat without weights at a faster
pace for 8 more minutes.”
Enhance Your Other Body Parts
“Play up a different body part to draw
attention from your middle.
If it’s your legs, wear skirts or slim pants.
Shoulders—bare them even if just a bit with
a boatneck or sweetheart neckline. Cleavage?
Make sure your bra does its job. If your bra
rides up in the back, the bra has likely
stretched out. If it accentuates back flab or if
the space between the cups doesn’t lie flat,
go up a size.”

Stop Overeating
“Eating portion-controlled meals that include
whole-grain foods and monounsaturated fats
(MUFAs) throughout the day is the best way
to eat for a flat belly: People who eat whole
grains lose more abdominal fat. And making
most of the fats you eat MUFAs reduces ab
flab, research says.”
Get Familiar With The Best Belly Foods
Best breakfast: A slice of whole-wheat bread
with natural peanut butter and 1 cup of your
favorite berries.
Best lunch: Spinach salad with sliced avocado,
grilled firm tofu, and cherry tomatoes,
drizzled with a little olive oil and fresh lemon
juice.
Best dinner: Grilled salmon, a roasted sweet
potato, and sautéed asparagus with olive oil
and garlic.
Best snack: A cup of fat-free yogurt with 2
tablespoons sunflower seeds.
Laugh. And Laugh Some More.
“The best thing for your abs is laughing.
Every time you laugh it strengthens your abs.
There are even laughing yoga classes (Go to
Laughter Yoga to find a class near you). If
you start busting a gust, you are absolutely
toning your abs.”

Meet Real-Life Magneto, Claims to Use Telepathic Powers to Manipulate Metal

WELCOME TO NERDTWIST

Superpower or just super-sticky skin?
Miroslaw Magola, from Germany, claims he
can manipulate metal objects with his
telepathic powers. The 55-year-old says that
he began to master the ability of
manipulating objects with his mind after he
studied the phenomenon of psychic energy.
“I found out I could train myself to
manipulate lifeless objects as I studied for my
degree in the early ’90s,” Magola says. “I
have since spent years perfecting the
technique and exploring further into human
magnetism.”
Magola doesn’t want to stop at simply
making objects stick to his body as if they
were glued onto it, because he believes he
can use his powers for the benefit of
humankind. “I am determined to develop my
unique powers further in the future and I’m
currently working with telepathy and healing
to see how psychokinetic energy can be put
to a use that will benefit mankind.” This real-
life Magneto doesn’t claim he is one of a
kind. On the contrary, he says there are
many others who can control this kind of
power. “Magnetic people prove with mind
power they are capable of lifting objects of
different materials off the floor without
aid. This can be done with the head or palms
of the hands to hold objects vertically,
horizontally or in circular movements. Some
magnetic people are also capable of lifting
objects from the floor with the palm of a
gloved hand or even with talcum powder on
the skin.” As expected, people are either
plain skeptical or too inquisitive when it
comes to Magola’s powers, but his answer to
either of them is that what draws the line
between a person with real magnetic powers
and a fake one is the ability to defy the laws
of gravity.
Apart from helping the entire human race
with his powers, Miroslaw Magola wants to
win the One Million Dollar Paranormal
Challenge prize, which hasn’t been claimed
for half a century. The challenge, set by the
famous magician James Randi in 1964, can be
won by anyone who can demonstrate the
existence of, for example, past life
remembrance, faith-healing or telepathy.
Magola already has an idea of how to prove
his power to everyone. “I want to do it live
on TV and cannot wait to get a reaction from
an audience and prove to skeptics who claim
it is all a hoax.”
Magola is not the only one who is after the $1
million prize, as the James Randi Education
Foundation receives hundreds of claims every
year. The spokesperson of the Foundation
states that it “is committed to providing
reliable information about paranormal claims.
It both supports and conducts original
research into such claims. We offer a one
million dollar prize to anyone who can show,
under proper observing conditions, evidence
of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult
power or event. Unfortunately to date, no
one has passed the preliminary tests, but we
always welcome new challengers.”
Although the phenomenon of psychokinesis
has not been properly studied, it is believed
that people can control the physical world
surrounding them with the power of their
mind. Ellie Crystal, metaphysics expert,
agrees that “everyone has the potential to be
able to be telekinetic”.

Healthy Living: Why Do We Get Muscle Cramps?

WELCOME TO NERDTWIST

Cramps are essentially muscle contractions,
just like the contractions that make your
muscles move, but gone terribly, horribly,
painfully wrong.

When a muscle cramps, the contraction is
involuntary. “In order to have the
contraction, the nerve or a group of nerves
has to be activated,” says Allan Goldfarb,
Ph.D., an exercise physiologist and a
professor in the department of kinesiology at
the University of North Carolina, Greensboro.
“Some irritation or activation of that nerve
[causes it to] fire when you’re not trying to
make the muscle contract.” Under normal
conditions, after the muscle contracts, the
brain would signal for it to relax. During a
cramp, that relaxation signal doesn’t come in
so loud and clear, says Goldfarb. Instead,
there’s an “imbalance between the activators
versus the inhibitors,” he says, and the
contractions continue until you’ve got yourself
a full-blown cramp.
But why that imbalance exists to begin with
is still a bit of a mystery. One common theory
is that the cramping muscle is simply over-
tired. Such exertion could be the result of
holding a particular yoga pose for a lengthy
period of time or pumping out a whole bunch
of calf raises.
Many an experienced crampee will tell you
dehydration is the culprit. But science isn’t so
sure. Dehydration does certainly cause
imbalances in the body, particularly of fluids
and salt, says Goldfarb, but dehydration
affects the whole body, not one localized
muscle. “If it’s a systemic problem like
dehydration, then why doesn’t the whole
body cramp?” University of Cape Town sports
physician Martin Schwellnus posed to the
Globe and Mail.
It may be that dehydration and related
depletion of minerals like potassium,
magnesium and calcium may simply increase
your risk of cramping in the right (er, wrong?)
scenario, says Goldfarb, rather than being
the distinct cause of the cramp.
A number of medications — and not just
those that cause you to lose fluids — list
muscle cramps as a side effect, WebMD
reported. And we can’t totally rule out a
simple (yet poorly understood as of yet)
genetic predisposition, either, says Goldfarb.
Sometimes a cramp is brought on by a simple
external trigger the body would usually
control for, like a cool breeze over an
exposed leg while you sleep after a hot and
sweaty day at the beach, he says. “You set
up your system to have an imbalance,” says
Goldfarb, and then that gentle breeze or a
jog on the sand or jumping rope becomes
more problematic.
The good news is that most muscle cramps
can be gently massaged or stretched away in
a matter of minutes. And more often than
not, a cramp isn’t much to worry about, says
Goldfarb. The worst cramps may leave you
with tiny tears in the muscle that could take
a couple of days to heal. In rare cases a
more serious health condition could be
behind the pangs, according to the National
Institutes of Health, including a spinal cord
injury or a pinched nerve. If you find yourself
cramping regularly, it’s time to see a
physician, says Goldfarb.
Until there’s more definitive research, it
certainly can’t hurt to stay hydrated and keep
electrolytes balanced during longer, more
tiring workouts.

Everything You Know About Your Personal Hygiene Is Wrong

WELCOME TO NERDTWIST

Pretty much all aspects of your daily
routine tend to be disgusting and your
hygiene habits are way worse than you
think. Although this list doesn’t cover
absolutely every way your life is a fungal-
fueled fiasco, these are some of the more
pressing habits you should probably
address as soon as humanly possible.
1. Your antibacterial hand soap could be
messing with your hormonal chemistry.
Also, it’s not as effective as you think.
Antibacterial soaps contain a chemical called
triclosan that has been shown to alter
hormone levels when tested on animals.
Triclosan is in about 75 percent of
antibacterial soaps, and also can be found in
household cleaning products and some
toothpastes. Regardless of the potential
effects of triclosan, antibacterial soap is no
more effective than regular soap at
preventing illness.
2. Washing your clothes might get rid of
dirt, but it also has a good chance of
covering your laundry in E. coli and feces.
Research by microbiologists has shown that
doing just one load of underwear in the
washing machine can transmit 100 million E.
coli into the water, which can then transfer
over to the next load. To reduce the problem,
it is suggested you run the washer at 150
degrees and transfer laundry to the dryer as
quickly as possible, since bacteria multiply in
damp areas. None of this may help, however.
At any rate, we’re all wearing at little bit of
feces. It’s unavoidable.
3. You probably spend a lot of time getting
up close and personal with the dirtiest part
of your home.
Bathroom floors can be home to 2 million
bacteria per square inch, while more than
500,000 bacteria per square inch can live in
just the kitchen sink’s drain alone.
Researchers claim the kitchen sink is far less
sanitary than your toilet bowl, as those plates
and pots left to soak are breeding grounds
for bacteria like E. coli and salmonella.
4. Not everything you put into the toilet
stays there when you flush.
Flushing open toilets causes fecal matter to
fly into the air. And yep, your toothbrush is
covered in fecal germs, if you have a joined
WC and a bathroom. With the lid open, the
particles will float as far as 6 feet away so
make sure at the very least that top is down
and your toothbrush is out of range or
covered.
5. If you’ve been drying your hands with
air dryers, it might be time to switch back
to paper towels.
Epidemiologists, after conductingvarious
studies, have concluded that paper towels
are actually more hygienic than hand dryers
(while also using less energy to make than
what is needed to produce the air in the
dryer). When testing the effectiveness
between paper towels, and a warm air dryer,
researchers also found that paper towels are
the cleanest way to go. Much of the benefit
comes from how quickly paper towels get
your hands dry, as leaving them wet makes
them bacteria magnets. Paper towels have
been found to take about 15 seconds, while
air dryers take 45 seconds – too long,
considering people usually only spend 13 to
17 seconds drying off.
6. Don’t eat food that has been picked up
from the floor.
According to a recent study, 99 percent of
bacteria is transferred immediately when
food hits the floor. Some floors might be
more dangerous than others, as dry, hard
surfaces have a much harder time harboring
bacteria than wet or carpeted areas. The type
of food also matters. Those withhigher salt
and sugar contents seem to pick up germs
much more slowly.
7. You haven’t been scrubbing your belly
button as much as you’re about to.
Researchers found 2,368 unique species of
bacteria after swabbing just 60 belly buttons.
Of these, 1,458 may have been completely
new to science. In this same study, one
man’s belly button was found to be home to
bacteria previously known to exist only in the
soil of Japan. Scrub those navels…
8. Your daily shower and shampoo routine
is overkill.
Dermatologists say if you wash your hair
every day, you’re removing the sebum
(natural hair oils). Then the oil glands
compensate by producing more oil. They
recommend washing your hair only 2 or 3
times a week. If you do end up feeling the
need to still wash your hair every day, just
make sure it’s a gentle shampoo — and don’t
rinse and repeat!
9. You’re probably taking care of your
contacts all wrong.
Virtually nobody is taking proper care of their
lenses. It’s fairly easy to getbiofilm on the
contacts, which is a thin layer of bacteria.
Rinsing with tap water causes the lenses to
soak up the non-sterile water. Re-using
contact solution day to day will cause the
contacts to be contaminated with germs and
greatly increases the risk of eye infection.
Also, make sure to replace those cases often
and remove all residue liquid after rinsing,
because once again bacteria builds up on wet
surfaces.
